Early Life
Ravi Pillai was born in Chavara, Kollam, Kerala, India, in 1953, into a family of farmers. He pursued a degree in Commerce from the University of Cochin. During his university days, he started his first business, a chit fund in Kollam. He later started an engineering contract business, working with major industrial houses in Kerala.
Rise to Success
Pillai's career took a significant turn when he moved to Saudi Arabia in 1978 after a labor strike forced him to close his business in Kerala. He established Nasser S. Al Hajri Corporation (NSH) in 1980, which became the foundation of the RP Group. Through strategic expansion, the company secured major construction contracts and grew rapidly in the Gulf region.

Pillai's business acumen led to the diversification of RP Group into construction, real estate, hospitality, steel, cement, and oil and gas. The group expanded its presence across the Middle East, India, and Australia. RP Group has been a preferred partner for major companies in the hydrocarbons industry across the Middle East.
