Early Life
Gil Shwed was born in Jerusalem, Israel, in 1968. At the age of 13, he began programming, showcasing an early aptitude for technology. He further honed his skills by studying computer science at Hebrew University in Jerusalem while still in high school. During his military service, he served in the Intelligence Corps Unit 8200.
Rise to Success
In 1993, after completing his military service, Shwed co-founded Check Point Software Technologies with Shlomo Kramer and Marius Nacht. That year, he invented and patented stateful inspection, which became the basis for the company's FireWall-1. His innovative approach transformed the cybersecurity landscape, establishing Check Point as a global leader. In 1994, he became the CEO and director of Check Point and later served as Chairman of the Board. The company went public on the Nasdaq in 1996.

Philanthropy
Shwed is involved with the Board of Trustees of Tel Aviv University and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Youth University of Tel Aviv University. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Yeholot Association, which works to reduce dropout rates in high schools.
