Early Life
Kavitark "Ram" Shriram was born in Chennai, India, in 1956/57 and earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Loyola College, Chennai, University of Madras. He immigrated to the United States in the 1980s.
Rise to Success
Shriram's career began at Bell-Northern Research. In 1994, he joined Netscape as a vice president. He later served as president of Junglee, an online comparison shopping firm, before it was acquired by Amazon in 1998. Shriram then became vice president of business development at Amazon. His most notable achievement was investing in Google in 1998. His $250,000 investment was crucial for the company's early development. Shriram founded Sherpalo Ventures in 2000.
