Early Life
Paul-Heinz Wesjohann was born on May 25, 1943, in Rechterfeld, Germany. He grew up in a family with deep roots in agriculture. His father, Paul Wesjohann, established an agricultural trade business and hatchery in 1932, laying the groundwork for the future PHW Group. From a young age, Paul-Heinz was immersed in the family business.
Rise to Success
Wesjohann began his career in 1959, joining his father's company as an apprentice. He received training in commerce and poultry farming, gaining valuable experience in all aspects of the business. In 1965, Paul Wesjohann, along with Heinz Lohmann, founded the Weser-Ems hatchery in Rechterfeld, where Paul-Heinz and his brother Erich took on leading roles. The brothers took over the majority of the Lohmann & Co. AG in 1987. In 1998, the family business was split, and Paul-Heinz Wesjohann founded the PHW Group, which quickly became a major player in the European poultry market, with the 'Wiesenhof' brand becoming a leader in the German poultry market.
