Early Life
Nassef Onsi Sawiris was born on January 19, 1961, in Aswan, Egypt. He is the youngest of the three sons of Onsi Sawiris, the founder of the Orascom conglomerate, a prominent family in Egypt. Sawiris received his secondary education at the Deutsche Evangelische Oberschule Kairo. He then pursued a Bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Chicago, which he completed in 1982.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Sawiris joined the Orascom group, where he oversaw the construction activities. He became CEO of Orascom Construction Industries in 1998. Under his leadership, OCI expanded operations globally, becoming a major player in construction and fertilizers. Sawiris diversified into strategic investments, including a significant stake in Adidas and co-owning Aston Villa F.C..
