Early Life
Jasminder Singh was born in April 1951, in Dar es Salaam, Tanganyika (now Tanzania), to an Indian Sikh family of Punjabi origin. His father, Bal Mohinder Singh, migrated to East Africa seeking economic opportunities. In 1968, Jasminder moved to the UK and qualified as a chartered accountant.
Rise to Success
Singh's career in hospitality began in 1975 when he acquired his first hotel, The Edwardian in Kensington. He founded Edwardian Hotels in 1977. He leveraged his financial acumen to build a portfolio of luxury properties in prime locations. A significant partnership with Radisson in 1993 led to the branding of several hotels as Radisson Blu Edwardian, expanding the group's global presence. In 2021, The Londoner, a $400 million flagship property in Leicester Square, opened, solidifying the group's reputation. In 2024, the group sold its 10 Radisson Blu Edwardian hotels to Starwood Capital.

Jasminder Singh supports the Madrinha Trust, where his wife Amrit Singh serves as a trustee, which focuses on education and research initiatives, aimed at empowering marginalized youth. The trust advances equitable education for vulnerable groups, particularly women and girls from underrepresented backgrounds, through tertiary support, one-to-one mentorship by specialists, and community programs to alleviate poverty and foster leadership in developing regions.
