Early Life
Maxim Shubarev was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1968. His parents were engineers. During his youth, he displayed an interest in sports and considered a military career. He attended Leningrad Institute of Aviation Instrumentation in 1985, and also worked at a research-production association. Later, he served in the Soviet Navy from 1986 to 1989, an experience he credits with shaping his character.
Rise to Success
After military service, Shubarev pursued a degree in Economics and Management at the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1993. In 1994, he founded Petersburg Real Estate. In 1995, the company completed its first project. In 1999, he transformed the company into a corporation. In 2006, the company was renamed Setl Group, which is now a leading developer in the St. Petersburg area. Under his leadership, Setl Group has built more than 11 million square meters of housing and has been recognized for its commitment to quality and community building.
