Early Life
Nik Storonsky was born on July 21, 1984, in Dolgoprudny, Russia. He was an athlete, excelling in swimming and boxing, even becoming a state champion. Storonsky began reading about economics and business at the young age of six. He pursued higher education, earning a master's degree in general and applied physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in 2007 and a master's degree in applied economics and finance from the New Economic School the same year.
Rise to Success
Storonsky moved to London in 2006 and started his career in finance as an equity derivatives trader at Lehman Brothers and later at Credit Suisse. In 2015, he co-founded Revolut with Vlad Yatsenko. The company aimed to offer a user-friendly platform for managing finances, providing multi-currency accounts and eliminating foreign exchange fees. Revolut's innovative approach disrupted the traditional banking industry, attracting millions of customers worldwide. The company has grown rapidly, expanding its services to include commission-free stock trading, cryptocurrency exchange, and insurance. Revolut's valuation reached $75 billion in November 2025.
