Early Life
Nik Storonsky was born in Dolgoprudny, Russia, on July 21, 1984. As a child, he was a state champion swimmer and took boxing lessons. He began reading about economics and business at the age of six. Storonsky holds a Master's degree in general and applied physics from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (2007) and a Master's degree in applied economics and finance from the New Economic School (2007).
Rise to Success
In 2004, Storonsky moved to London and began working as an equity derivatives trader at Lehman Brothers. He later worked at Credit Suisse until 2013. In 2013, he acquired British citizenship. Storonsky co-founded Revolut in December 2013. The idea came from his own personal frustrations with traditional banking fees during his travels, so he set up the firm in order to offer the solution – a platform which provided seamless, low-cost financial services globally. The app launched publicly in July 2015. In 2023, Storonsky founded the venture capital firm QuantumLight.
