Erman Ilicak was born in Darende, Malatya, Turkey, on October 3, 1967. He completed his primary and secondary education at TED Ankara College and graduated from the Middle East Technical University Department of Civil Engineering in 1990. He later earned an MBA from Vienna University of Economics and Business in conjunction with the University of Minnesota.

Ilicak's career started after gaining experience in the construction industry. In 1993, he founded Rönesans Holding in St. Petersburg, Russia, with a small initial capital. Under his guidance, Rönesans expanded rapidly, securing significant contracts and diversifying into various segments, including heavy industries and insurance. The company secured major infrastructure projects globally, solidifying its position as a global leader.

Ilicak strategically diversified Rönesans Holding's business areas into construction, real estate, energy, and healthcare sectors.
