Early Life
Ferit Faik Sahenk was born in Ankara, Turkey, on March 18, 1964. He attended The American School in Switzerland (TASIS) and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and Human Resources from Boston College in 1989.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Sahenk started his career with Doğuş' Garanti Bank. In 1991, he founded Garanti Menkul Kıymetler Şirketi. He became the chairman of Doğuş Holding after his father's death in 2001. Under his leadership, Doğuş Holding expanded its operations significantly, with revenues reaching $5.7 billion by 1999. He played a key role in the transformation of Doğuş Group into a global conglomerate and has been recognized for his achievements in the business community.
Key Business Strategies
Ferit Sahenk is known for his strategic decisions in expanding and restructuring Doğuş Holding. He acquired food retail chains and operated NTV, a Turkish news channel. He sold a quarter of Garanti Bank to General Electric for $1.6 billion in 2004. Sahenk also invested in the development of Galataport in Istanbul, a project valued at $1.7 billion. His focus on talent led to the creation of a recruitment division called 'Humanitas'.
