Jonathan Mark Tisch was born on December 7, 1953, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, to a Jewish family. He is the son of Joan (née Hyman) and Preston Robert Tisch. His father was the co-owner of Loews Hotels and the New York Giants. Tisch attended Tufts University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in 1976. Tisch's early life was steeped in the business world, and he was exposed to the family's ventures from a young age.
Rise to Success
Tisch's career began in 1979 when he joined Loews Hotels as a sales representative. He quickly climbed the ranks, becoming director of development in 1981, vice president in 1982, and executive vice president in 1985. In 1986, he was appointed president of Loews Hotels, and three years later, he was promoted to CEO. In 1989, he became Chairman of Loews Hotels (a wholly owned subsidiary of Loews Corporation). During his tenure as CEO, Tisch engineered the expansion of Loews Hotels, emphasizing strong partnerships with team members, guests, communities, and owners. On December 31, 2024, Jonathan Tisch transitioned from director and co-chairman of Loews Corporation's Offices of the President to a Director Emeritus position, while continuing as Executive Chairman of Loews Hotels.
