Early Life
Jonathan Mark Tisch was born on December 7, 1953, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is the son of Joan and Preston Robert Tisch. His father was a co-owner of Loews Hotels and the New York Giants. Tisch graduated from Ethical Culture Fieldston School in 1969 and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tufts University in 1976.
Rise to Success
Tisch began his career by working for his family's hotels before joining Loews Corporation in 1980. He quickly rose through the ranks, becoming President of Loews Hotels in 1986 and CEO in 1989. During this time, he also served as President of Bulova Watch Company and Bulova Corporation from 1979 to 1990. From 1990 to 1995, he was the Chairman and CEO of Lorillard, Inc., a Loews tobacco subsidiary. Tisch was appointed to the Office of the President in 1999 and served as Co-Chairman of the Board of Loews from 2006 to 2024.

In March 2022, Tisch announced a $25 million contribution to his high school alma mater, The Frederick Gunn School, to construct The Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch Center for Innovation and Active Citizenship.
