Liang Xinjun was born in 1968 in Taizhou, Zhejiang, China. He showed an early interest in business and entrepreneurship. He graduated from Fudan University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991.

Liang Xinjun co-founded Fosun International in 1992 with Guo Guangchang and two others. Fosun has grown into a major investment conglomerate with interests in various sectors. In 2011, Fosun was ranked 81st among the top 500 enterprises in China by Fortune. Liang earned an MBA from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business in 2007. In 2017, Liang stepped down from his role at Fosun, citing health reasons. He subsequently established a family office in Singapore.
