Early Life
Aydın Doğan was born on April 15, 1936, in Kelkit, Gümüşhane, Turkey, to a well-known family. He completed his primary and secondary education in Kelkit and finished high school in Erzincan. From 1956 to 1960, he attended Istanbul Economy and Commerce Academy.
Rise to Success
Doğan's career began in 1959 when he registered his business and started trading construction equipment, vehicles, and other commercial vehicles. In 1974, he founded his first industrial company. He entered the media industry in 1979 by acquiring the Milliyet newspaper and later strengthened his position with the acquisition of Hürriyet in 1994. He served as the head of the Association of Turkish Newspaper Publishers from 1986 to 1996. In 2004, he was the first elected Turkish Deputy Chairperson of the World Association of Newspapers (WAN).
