Early Life
Kwek Leng Beng was born in Singapore on January 27, 1941. His father, Kwek Hong Png, founded Hong Leong Group in 1941. Kwek was raised by his grandmother and attended Beatty Primary School and Bartley Secondary School. At 17, he began working at Hong Leong. He later studied law at the University of London, graduating with an LLB in 1963, before returning to Singapore to join the family business.
Rise to Success
Kwek joined the Hong Leong Group in the early 1960s and quickly rose through the ranks. He became the chairman of Hong Leong Group in 1990. His strategic acquisitions and management skills led to the global expansion of the company. Kwek's vision transformed CDL from a smaller entity into a leading global real estate firm. He is also known for expanding Millennium Hotels and Resorts worldwide. His leadership has significantly shaped Singapore's business landscape in real estate and hospitality.

He is known for his knack for identifying strategic investments, demonstrated by the purchase of the Plaza Hotel in New York. Philanthropy
Kwek Leng Beng is committed to philanthropy and supports various charitable causes, particularly in education. In November 2023, he launched his biography and donated $24 million to the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) for establishing the Kwek Leng Beng University Tower. He has also initiated bursaries and scholarships for SIT Hospitality Business undergraduates.
