Early Life
Daniel Marc Snyder was born on November 23, 1964, in Silver Spring, Maryland. Raised in a Jewish household, he moved to England at age 12 and later resided in Queens, New York, with his grandmother before returning to Maryland. He graduated from Charles W. Woodward High School.
Rise to Success
Snyder's entrepreneurial journey began at a young age. He started a travel business for college students before dropping out of the University of Maryland, College Park at 20. In 1989, he co-founded Snyder Communications, an advertising company. The company achieved significant success and, in 1996, Snyder became the youngest CEO of a New York Stock Exchange-listed company.
Key Business Strategies
Snyder's business acumen led to the sale of Snyder Communications to Havas for $2.1 billion in stock in 2000. In 1999, he acquired the Washington Commanders for $800 million. He sold the franchise for $6.05 billion in 2023.
Philanthropy
Snyder has been involved in charitable endeavors. He contributed $1 million to victims of the September 11 attacks and $600,000 to Hurricane Katrina victims in 2005. He also contributed $6 million to Children's National Medical Center for an emergency wing.
