Angela Leong was born on March 23, 1960, in Guangzhou, China. She comes from a modest household and faced financial challenges early in her life. She started working as a treasury clerk at Casino Lisboa, one of Stanley Ho's properties, and also taught dance part-time.
Rise to Success
Leong met Stanley Ho in 1986. She quickly rose to prominence through her business acumen and investments in the casino and real estate sectors. She began investing in property in her early 20s, accumulating a large portfolio primarily in Hong Kong, Macau, and major cities in China. By January 2019, her real estate portfolio prompted the formation of a holding company named L'Avenue.
Key Business Strategies
A significant portion of Leong's wealth stems from her investments in SJM Holdings, where she serves as managing director and the largest individual shareholder, with a 12% stake. SJM Holdings operates 13 casinos in Macau. Furthermore, she expanded her holdings through her holding company, L'Avenue, which manages numerous properties, including buildings in Hong Kong and the luxurious L'Arc Macau hotel. She also has smaller assets in Beijing and Shanghai, as well as hotels and a restaurant chain in Macau.
