Early Life
Karel Komarek was born in Hodonín, Czech Republic, on March 15, 1969. He grew up during the communist era and witnessed the societal and economic changes that followed the Velvet Revolution in 1989. These changes presented opportunities for entrepreneurs, and Komarek seized them. He studied engineering.
Rise to Success
Komarek's entrepreneurial journey started in 1992 with M.O.S. Hodonín, an industrial valves wholesale company, with a small loan from his father. In 1995, he founded KKCG, an investment company that would become the cornerstone of his business empire. KKCG expanded into energy with Moravské naftové doly (MND Group). A key milestone was the acquisition of Sazka, the largest Czech lottery company, which later formed the basis for the Sazka Group (later renamed Allwyn). In 2010, he separated from his father and sister to run his own investment group, KKCG. In 2022, Allwyn was awarded the Fourth License to operate the UK National Lottery.
Key Business Strategies
Komarek's success stems from his strategic investments and ability to identify growth opportunities. He diversified KKCG into various sectors, including energy, IT, real estate, and lotteries.
