Andreas Martinos & family

Early Life

Andreas Martinos comes from a prominent Greek shipping family. His father, John Martinos, owned an antique shop. Andreas, along with his brothers Constantinos and Athanasios, inherited the foundations of their maritime empire from their mother, Athina Martinou.

Rise to Success

In 1971, the family founded Thenamaris Ships Management. Andreas co-founded the company with his mother and brothers in 1972. In 1998, he founded Minerva Marine after splitting from Thenamaris. Collectively, Andreas and his brothers own the largest shipping fleet in Greece, the largest shipowning nation in the world. Minerva Marine is now run by his son, also named Andreas.

Key Business Strategies

Minerva Marine focuses on the transportation of crude oil, product carriers, and dry cargo vessels, maintaining high standards of safety and environmental sustainability. Minerva Marine has expanded its operations to include MRs to VLCCs (Chemical Product and crude oil carriers). The company continues to engage in new business partnerships, keeping customer's ever-changing needs at the forefront.
