Early Life
Enrique Razon Jr., born on March 3, 1960, in the Philippines, comes from a third-generation Spanish-Filipino family deeply involved in marine cargo handling. He attended La Salle Greenhills for grade school and completed secondary education at La Salle Greenhills High School. He later attended Bowdoin College in the United States but dropped out at 17. He then began working at the family's cargo-loading company for minimum wage.
Rise to Success
In 1987, Razon Jr. and the Soriano Group incorporated International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) to bid for the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT). ICTSI won the MICT contract in 1988, and Razon Jr. led its development program. Under his leadership, ICTSI expanded operations globally, managing terminals across Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, Africa, and the Americas. He spearheaded the development of MICT, transforming ICTSI into the Philippines' leading port operator. Beyond ports, Razon diversified into the gaming and hospitality sectors, serving as Chairman and CEO of Bloomberry Resorts Corporation, which developed the Solaire Resort and Casino. He also has stakes in Manila Water and MORE Power.
