Christy Ruth Walton (née Tallant) was born in Jackson, Wyoming, on February 8, 1949. Growing up in a middle-class family, she graduated from the local high school. Not much is known about her life before she married John T. Walton in 1978. In June 2005, tragedy struck when her husband died in a plane crash.
