Early Life and Education
Henry Sy Jr., often referred to as "Big Boy", was born into a family of entrepreneurs. He is the eldest son of the late Henry Sy Sr., the founder of the SM Group. He graduated from De La Salle University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management in 1974.
Rise to Success
Henry Sy Jr. has been instrumental in the growth and diversification of the SM Group. He is the co-vice chairman of SM Investments Corporation and also serves as the chairman of SM Prime Holdings. He was a CEO of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines until 2016 and has been a director of SM Prime since 1994 and its board chairman since 2014. His efforts have contributed to the SM Group's expansion in retail, property, banking, and hospitality. He also founded Big Boss Cement in 2017.

Sy Jr. has been involved in strategic real estate acquisitions and development, playing a key role in the expansion of SM Prime Holdings. His strategies have included the identification and negotiation of potential sites for real estate projects. He has also overseen SM's expansion into renewable energy through Philippine Geothermal Production.
