Early Life and Education
Evangelos Marinakis was born in Piraeus, Greece, on July 30, 1967. His father, Miltiadis Marinakis, was a shipowner and a member of the Greek Parliament. Evangelos followed in his father's footsteps and pursued higher education in the UK, earning a BA in International Business Administration and a Master's degree in International Relations from the American International University in London.
Rise to Success
Marinakis began his career in the shipping industry, working as a commercial manager for Capital Ship Management Corporation from 1992 to 2005. In 2005, he founded Capital Maritime & Trading Corp., which became the cornerstone of his business empire. He also served as the Chairman of Capital Product Partners L.P. from 2007 to 2014. Marinakis expanded his investments to include media and sports. He acquired a majority stake in Olympiacos F.C., a Greek football team, in 2010, and became its president. In 2017, he purchased Nottingham Forest, an English football team.
