Zhang Bangxin was born on October 1, 1980, in Yangzhong, Jiangsu, China. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Life Sciences from Sichuan University in 2001. He pursued postgraduate studies at Peking University's School of Life Sciences. In 2003, while studying at Peking University, Zhang co-founded Xueersi, which later became TAL Education Group. His focus was on providing tutoring services for primary and secondary school students.
