Early Life
Lalit Khaitan was born in Kolkata and received his education at Mayo College, St. Xavier's College, and BMS College of Engineering in Bangalore. He also pursued a degree in Managerial Finance & Accounting from Harvard University, USA.
Rise to Success
Lalit Khaitan's entry into the liquor business was marked by his father's acquisition of the Rampur distillery in 1972. Lalit took over the liquor division in 1995 and transformed it, renaming it Radico Khaitan. Under his leadership, Radico Khaitan diversified into branded beverages, with the introduction of 8 PM whiskey in 1998, a pivotal moment that led to massive success. The company is now one of the largest manufacturers of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and has expanded its brands to over 85 countries.
