Early Life
Wu Yajun was born in Chongqing, China, in 1964. She graduated from Northwestern Polytechnical University with a degree in engineering in 1984. After graduating, she worked at the Qianwei Meter Factory from 1984 to 1988. From 1988 to 1993, she worked as a journalist and editor at the China Shirong News Agency, covering the property market, which helped her build a network in the government and business world.
Rise to Success
In 1993, Wu Yajun co-founded Chongqing Zhongjianke Real Estate Co Ltd with her then-husband, Cai Kui. The company was later renamed Longfor Properties. Wu's strategic acumen and leadership propelled Longfor's rapid expansion, transforming it into a major player in China's real estate sector. Wu served as the CEO for six years, and as the chairman of the board from 2007 to 2018. Longfor Properties went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (SEHK) in 2009.
