Early Life and Education
Smita Crishna Godrej was born in Mumbai, India, in 1951. She is the daughter of Naval Pirojsha Godrej, a prominent industrialist, and Soonoo Godrej. Smita received her education at J. B. Petit High School for Girls in Mumbai and later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and political science from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai. She also obtained a diploma in communication arts specializing in television production from Loyola College in Montreal (now Concordia University).
Rise to Success and Involvement in the Godrej Group
Smita Crishna Godrej is a prominent member of the Godrej family, one of India's leading industrial dynasties. She holds a significant stake in the Godrej family assets, primarily through Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd.. In 2024, following a business realignment within the Godrej Group, Smita and her brother, Jamshyd Godrej, inherited control of Godrej & Boyce along with its affiliates, real estate holdings, and other non-listed entities, forming the Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG).
