Anthony Nicholas Pritzker was born on January 7, 1961, into a Jewish family in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of Donald Pritzker, the founder of the Hyatt hotel chain. He is the older brother of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. Anthony Pritzker graduated from Menlo School, Dartmouth College, and earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

After completing his education, Anthony Pritzker joined the family business, taking on operational roles within the Pritzker-owned Marmon Group, a diversified industrial conglomerate.
