Lim Hariyanto Wijaya Sarwono's entrepreneurial journey began in the early 1900s when his father, Lim Tju King, emigrated from China and opened a grocery store in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, laying the foundation for the family's business empire. This humble beginning shaped Lim's strong sense of enterprise and connection to his Indonesian heritage.
Rise to Success
Under Lim's leadership, the Harita Group diversified into various industries. In the late 1980s, Lim started rapidly expanding the family business through joint venture partnerships in timber, gold mining, and coal mining. The group ventured into palm oil plantations in 1998, followed by bauxite mining in 2003, and nickel mining in 2004. These ventures culminated in the development of an integrated nickel processing company, Trimegah Bangun Persada, which raised $650 million in a 2023 initial public offering.

Lim's key business strategies have involved diversifying the Harita Group into various sectors, including palm oil, bauxite mining, and nickel mining. He has focused on strategic expansion through joint ventures and has been adept at identifying and capitalizing on emerging opportunities in the natural resources sector. Philanthropy
Lim is also known for his philanthropy. In June 2024, he donated 10 million Chinese Yuan to Fujian Polytechnic Normal University (FPNU) for the construction of the Lin Lianxing Technology Building. This donation was facilitated through the Jakarta Fuqing Association and supported by the Fuqing City Government.
