Early Life
Vadim Novinsky was born on June 3, 1963, in Staraya Russa, USSR (now Russia). He graduated from the Leningrad Academy of Civil Aviation in 1985 with a degree in engineering management systems. He initially worked for various Soviet companies.
Rise to Success
After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Novinsky moved to Ukraine in 1996. He started acquiring Ukrainian metallurgy companies and became a key business partner of Rinat Akhmetov in the mining and metallurgical industry. In 1999, he founded Smart Group LLC to manage his investment portfolio in the metals and mining sector. In 2006, he united his Ukrainian metallurgy companies into Smart Holding Group.
Key Business Strategies
Smart Holding Group's investment strategy focuses on sustainable development and increasing the value of its assets. The group invests in strategically important sectors, including metals, energy, finances, agriculture, shipbuilding, and real estate. Novinsky transferred his assets to a trust in November 2022, although the Ministry of Justice later canceled the transfer, reinstating him as the ultimate beneficial owner.
Philanthropy
Novinsky is a patron of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and has been involved in peacebuilding initiatives. His foundation, the Vadym Novynskyi Foundation, focuses on humanitarian aid.
