Early Life
Vadim Novinsky was born on June 3, 1963, in Staraya Russa, Russia. He graduated from the Leningrad Academy of Civil Aviation with a degree in engineering management systems in 1985.
Rise to Success
Novinsky's business career began in Ukraine in 1996, starting with a role at Lukoil North West. He then acquired Ukrainian metallurgy companies. In 1999, he combined these companies to establish Smart Group. In 2006, he and his business partner Andrei Klyamko united their Ukrainian metallurgy companies into Smart Holding Group. In 2007, they exchanged their holdings for a 23.75% stake in Metinvest, where they became junior partners with Rinat Akhmetov.
