Timur Ruslanovich Turlov was born on November 13, 1987, in Lobnya, near Moscow, Russia. He showed an early interest in stock market investments, experimenting with $800 inherited from his grandfather. He graduated from Moscow Aviation Technology University (MATI) in 2009 with a degree in economics and management.
Rise to Success
Turlov's career began in 2003 as a trader at the Moscow branch of World Capital Investments (WCI). In 2005, he was hired by Yutreyd.ru to manage American stock market operations. In 2008, he founded Freedom Finance during the financial crisis. The company provided access to U.S. stock exchanges and brokerage services. By 2015, he consolidated ventures under Freedom Holding Corp.. In October 2019, Freedom Holding Corp. was listed on NASDAQ. The company's shares, initially priced under $15, reached $90 by 2024. In May 2025, Turlov became the wealthiest person in Kazakhstan.
