Early Life
Timothy Clare Headington was born in 1950. He is the son of Clare W. Headington, a geologist, and Catherine Meyer Headington. He attended the University of Oklahoma on a tennis scholarship, earning a bachelor's degree in history. He later pursued graduate degrees in theology and psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary and completed his psychology residency at Los Angeles County Hospital.
Rise to Success
Inspired by his father, a geologist, Headington founded Headington Oil in 1978 in Oklahoma City. His career in the oil industry saw him gain significant wealth. In 2008, he sold acreage in North Dakota's Bakken oil play to XTO Energy for $1.85 billion. He then transitioned to filmmaking, establishing production companies like Tango Entertainment and Ley Line Entertainment. He has produced and executive produced several movies, including "Hugo" and "World War Z."
