Early Life
Norman Murray Edwards was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, on December 10, 1959. He grew up in a household that emphasized the importance of education. His father was an accountant, and his mother was a primary school teacher. Edwards developed an early interest in hockey and worked as a referee during high school.
Rise to Success
Edwards pursued higher education at the University of Saskatchewan, where he earned a Bachelor of Commerce with distinction. He later obtained a law degree from the University of Toronto. After practicing law, Edwards transitioned to the business world. He is most notably known for launching Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL), a major player in the Canadian oil sands.
