Xiao Yongming was born on January 7, 1964, in Sichuan Province, China. He started his career in 1981 at the Yonghong Plastics Factory in Anyue County, where he served as the factory director. This early experience in manufacturing laid the groundwork for his future entrepreneurial ventures. In 1996, he transitioned to the catering industry in Golmud, Qinghai Province.

In 2002, Xiao Yongming entered the potash business, establishing Golmud Zangge Potash Co., Ltd.. His fortune significantly increased after Zangge Holdings completed its listing in 2016. Xiao became the richest man in Qinghai with a fortune of 26.5 billion yuan that year. He has also been involved in the lithium and chemical industries.
