Early Life and Education
Jim Davis was born in 1960 in the United States. He earned a business degree from Villanova University in 1981.
Rise to Success
In 1983, at the age of 23, Davis co-founded Aerotek with his cousin Steve Bisciotti in a basement in Maryland. Aerotek, later renamed Allegis Group, started as a staffing agency to fill open positions with a temporary workforce. Davis and Bisciotti expanded the company rapidly, both domestically and internationally, focusing on providing staffing solutions. By 2022, Allegis Group had grown to become one of the largest privately-held talent management firms globally.
Key Business Strategies
Davis's key strategy has been building a company rooted in strong relationships that create professional and financial opportunities for employees and help companies find the best talent. Allegis Group expanded to over 500 offices on four continents. Through Redwood Capital, Davis also invests in diverse ventures beyond staffing, including retirement communities and propane distribution.

Jim Davis, along with his wife Ann, has been involved in philanthropy through the New Balance Foundation. The New Balance Foundation has given over $165 million worldwide, focusing on health, wellness, youth development, and education. The foundation announced a $100 million gift to Massachusetts General Hospital to create a new cardiovascular care tower. Davis has also supported Middlebury College and Villanova University.
