Early Life and Career Beginnings
Liu Jianjun, born in 1969, embarked on his career after finishing high school in 1977. He began working at a mining bureau in China's Hebei Province. This early exposure provided him with the foundation to understand the mining industry. With a strong academic background, including a master's degree in Economics from Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, and holding the title of Senior Economist, Liu quickly advanced in his career.
Rise to Success in the Mining Sector
Liu Jianjun's entrepreneurial journey led him to found Tibet Huayu Mining, a company engaged in exploring, mining, processing, and selling non-ferrous metals. His strategic vision was evident when he took the company public on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2016.
Career in Banking and Scientific Contributions
Beyond his ventures in mining, Liu Jianjun has had a successful career in banking. He served as Executive Director and President of the Postal Savings Bank of China (PSBC) since August 2021. Prior to his role at PSBC, Liu held significant positions at China Merchants Bank, including Executive Vice President. He is now Vice President of China Post Group. Furthermore, Liu is recognized for his scientific contributions. He is a recipient of the 2020 President's Science Award for his work in biomedical research and precision medicine, specifically through genetic studies of Asian populations.
