Early Life
Evangelos Mytilineos was born in Athens, Greece, in 1954. He graduated from the Moraitis School and holds a BSc in Economics from the University of Athens and an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Rise to Success
In 1978, Mytilineos took over the family's metallurgy business, which had been founded in 1908. In 1990, he established MYTILINEOS Holdings Group, which has since become a leading private group in power and gas, metallurgy, and mining. Under his leadership, the company acquired METKA S.A. and Aluminium of Greece, expanding its operations significantly. In 1995, Mytilineos took the group public on the Athens Stock Exchange. The company was renamed METLEN in 2024. A planned dual listing on the London Stock Exchange is set for 2025.
Key Business Strategies
Mytilineos spearheaded the company's entry into the energy sector, becoming the second-largest power producer and supplier in Greece. He focused on sustainability and innovation, optimizing costs and operations. His strategies included the liberalization of the natural gas market in Greece and expansion into renewable energy sources (RES).
