James S. Tisch was born on January 2, 1953, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. His father, Laurence Tisch, co-founded Loews Corporation in 1946 with his brother Preston Robert Tisch. James graduated from Suffield Academy in 1971 and earned a B.A. from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
Rise to Success
Tisch's career at Loews Corporation began in 1977. He held various positions before becoming Vice President in 1982. From 1999 to 2024, he served as the President and CEO of Loews Corporation. During his tenure, Loews maintained a focus on long-term value creation and a diversified portfolio, including insurance, hotels, offshore drilling, and energy infrastructure. James Tisch transitioned to the role of Chairman of the Board on January 1, 2025.
