Binny Bansal was born around 1982/1983 in Chandigarh, India. His father worked as a bank manager, and his mother was in the government sector. He attended St. Anne's Convent School in Chandigarh and later pursued a degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, graduating in 2005.

In 2007, Binny Bansal co-founded Flipkart with Sachin Bansal. Starting as an online bookstore, Flipkart quickly expanded into various product categories. Binny served as COO until 2016 and then as CEO until 2018. Under his leadership, Flipkart became the dominant e-commerce player in India.
