Wee Ee Chao was born in 1955. He is the son of the late Dr. Wee Cho Yaw, a renowned banker and businessman who built a significant fortune in Singapore's banking sector. Rise to Success
Wee Ee Chao began his career by joining Kay Hian & Co in 1981 as managing director. He became chairman of Kay Hian Holdings 15 years later, and was named chairman of UOB-Kay Hian Holdings when the latter was formed following the merger of UOB Securities and Kay Hian Holdings in 2000. His dedication and hard work led him to become a key figure in the growth of UOB-Kay Hian, one of the largest brokerages in Asia.

Wee Ee Chao's key business strategies focused on expanding the brokerage's reach and influence. His roles have included the chairman of Singapore Tourism Board from 2002 to 2004, highlighting his commitment to supporting Singapore’s business and financial sectors. He has also served on the board of UOL Group, and is involved in investment and real estate development in the region. Wee has also been a board member of Haw Par Corporation.
