Early Life
Abdullah Saleh Ali Al-Othaim was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1960. His father, Saleh Ali Al Othaim, established a retail business in the mid-1950s. Abdullah attended Qadisiyah Primary School before dropping out of college to work with his father.
Rise to Success
After his father's death, Abdullah and his brothers inherited Riyal 17 million. Abdullah chose to continue his father's retail business, founding Abdullah Al-Othaim Markets in 1980. Through the years, he expanded the business, and in 2000, Abdullah Al-Othaim Markets became a limited liability company. The company went public in 2008 and now has over 400 stores in Saudi Arabia and over 50 in Egypt.
