Sachin Bansal was born on August 5, 1981, in Chandigarh, India. He attended St. Anne's Convent School in Chandigarh. He excelled in academics and secured an impressive All-India Rank of 49 in the IIT-JEE entrance exam. He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi with a degree in Computer Science and Engineering in 2005.
Rise to Success
After graduating, Bansal worked at Techspan for a few months and then joined Amazon Web Services as a senior software engineer. In 2007, Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal co-founded Flipkart, starting as an online bookstore. Flipkart quickly expanded into various product categories, becoming India's largest e-commerce platform. Bansal served as the CEO and Chairman of Flipkart for over 11 years. Under his leadership, Flipkart pioneered cash-on-delivery and mobile-first commerce strategies.
Key Business Strategies
Bansal's key strategies included adapting global e-commerce models to suit Indian consumer behavior, pioneering innovative payment solutions like cash-on-delivery, and building a robust logistics infrastructure.
