Rubens Menin Teixeira de Souza was born on March 12, 1956, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. He came from a family of four children and followed a natural path to study civil engineering, earning his degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in 1978.

Menin's career began with an internship overseeing construction projects in impoverished areas of Belo Horizonte. This experience laid the groundwork for his future endeavors. In 1979, Menin co-founded MRV Engenharia with partners. Under his leadership, MRV grew into Brazil's leading home builder, significantly contributing to affordable housing solutions across the country. In May 2007, he became the Chairman of MRV Engenharia, and his strategic vision was crucial in navigating economic fluctuations and market challenges, contributing to MRV's growth and prominence.
