Early Life
Philip Niarchos was born in 1954 in Athens, Greece, as the eldest son of Stavros Niarchos and Eugenia Livanos. His father, Stavros Niarchos, was a prominent Greek shipping magnate, and his mother, Eugenia Livanos, was the elder daughter of Stavros G. Livanos, who was Stavros Niarchos’s business rival. Philip was raised in a family deeply involved in the shipping industry, which flourished after World War II. He attended Collège Stanislas de Paris and Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland.

Philip Niarchos followed in his father's footsteps, achieving success in the shipping industry and becoming co-president of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation. However, he is most recognized for his contributions to the art world. He inherited his father’s art collection, which included numerous masterpieces. Niarchos expanded this collection, acquiring additional contemporary works.
