Richard Charles Nicholas Branson was born on July 18, 1950, in Blackheath, London, England. His father was a barrister, and his mother was a ballet dancer and air hostess. Branson struggled with dyslexia and had a difficult time in school, dropping out at the age of 16. Despite these challenges, he displayed an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age.
Rise to Success
Branson's entrepreneurial journey began at 16 with the launch of 'Student', a youth-culture magazine. In 1970, he started a mail-order record business and opened record stores called Virgin Records in 1972. This venture led to the formation of Virgin Records in 1973, signing prominent artists such as the Sex Pistols and the Rolling Stones. In 1984, Branson entered the airline industry with Virgin Atlantic, challenging established airlines.
