Early Life
Mustafa Rahmi Koç was born on October 9, 1930, in Ankara, Turkey. He is the only son of Vehbi Koç, the founder of Koç Holding, one of Turkey's largest conglomerates. He attended Robert College in Istanbul for high school and then pursued higher education in the United States, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial Management from Johns Hopkins University.
Rise to Success
Rahmi Koç began his career in 1958 at the Koç Group, after completing his military service, starting at Otokoç Company in Ankara. He rose through the ranks, becoming the general coordinator in 1964, chairman of the executive committee in 1970, and deputy chairman of the board in 1975. In 1980, he was appointed chairman of the Koç Holding management committee. He succeeded his father as chairman of Koç Holding on March 30, 1984, a position he held until April 4, 2003. He is now the Honorary Chairman.

Under Rahmi Koç's leadership, Koç Holding expanded into various sectors, including energy, automotive, consumer durables, and finance. The group has 14 companies traded on the Borsa İstanbul. Philanthropy
