Early Life
Dr. M. Satyanarayana Reddy, often known as Dr. MSN, was born in 1970 in Telangana, India. He completed his senior secondary education in Hyderabad before pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Organic Chemistry from Osmania University.
Rise to Success
Dr. Reddy began his career as a scientist. In 2003, he founded MSN Laboratories with the goal of providing affordable generic medicines. Over the years, MSN Group expanded to include five privately held companies, with 16 manufacturing plants across the US, India, and Myanmar. In 2020, MSN started producing Favipiravir, a low-priced version of the COVID-19 drug, under the brand name Favilow.
Key Business Strategies
MSN Laboratories focuses on research-driven and affordable medicines, particularly in oncology and cardiology. The company has expanded significantly, and it holds 690 patents in India and other countries. The company has also entered into a license agreement with the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) for manufacturing, distribution and marketing of Covid-19 drug 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose (2-DG) in India. Philanthropy
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. MSN Reddy sent Rs. 5 crores worth of medicine and equipment to the chief minister of Telangana to combat the pandemic.
