Lawrence M. Tanenbaum was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in 1945, to a Jewish family. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Cornell University in 1968.
Rise to Success
Tanenbaum's career has been marked by his involvement in sports and business ventures. He is known for his role as chairman and CEO of Kilmer Group. He is also the chair emeritus of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE), chairman of the board of the National Basketball Association, and a governor and member of the executive committee of the National Hockey League, the NBA, and Major League Soccer. Tanenbaum played a pivotal role in bringing an NBA franchise to Toronto and has been involved in the acquisition of major sports teams and arenas, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Raptors.

They have created the Tanenbaum Institute for Science in Sport to promote evidence-based research in sport science and sports medicine.
