Koon Poh Keong's journey began in a traditional Malaysian Chinese family in Kuala Lumpur. Koon Poh Keong's educational journey continued when he decided to further his studies in the United States. He chose the University of Oklahoma, majoring in electrical engineering. Rise to Success
In 1986, Koon Poh Keong and his brothers made a critical decision to acquire a small aluminum factory. Despite financial challenges, they recognized the factory's potential and began implementing new management strategies and production technologies to boost efficiency and product quality. They expanded the market by seeking new clients and partners. Press Metal Aluminium Holdings has since grown to become Southeast Asia's largest integrated aluminium producer. In 2017, he was honored with the “Tan Sri” title, recognizing his significant impact on the national economic development.

Koon's focus has been on mastering core processes, delivering high quality, and embracing sustainability. He integrated the business vertically, from smelting to extrusion, to control costs, increase efficiency, and ensure long-term sustainability. His green strategy, including using hydropower, has attracted global partners. Under his leadership, Press Metal has expanded its global footprint with distribution offices in several countries. Koon also champions a system-based leadership model, empowering teams and promoting a collaborative and performance-driven management structure.
