John A. Pritzker was born in 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. He is the son of Jay Pritzker, who founded the Hyatt Hotel chain. Pritzker graduated from Menlo College with a B.A. and attended the University of Denver.
Rise to Success
Pritzker started his career in 1972 at Hyatt Hotels, where he gained experience in the family business. He later left Hyatt to pursue entrepreneurial ventures. In 1996, he founded Mandara Spa, which grew into a chain of 72 resort spas. Pritzker co-founded Geolo Capital in 2005, a private equity firm focused on investments in hospitality, entertainment, and health and wellness companies. He also played a key role in the creation of Two Roads Hospitality, which was later sold to Hyatt Corporation in 2018.
