Early Life
Hideyuki Busujima was born in Tokyo, Japan, to Kunio Busujima, the founder of Sankyo, a major pachinko machine manufacturer. He grew up in a privileged environment, attending some of Japan's best schools.
Rise to Success
Hideyuki joined Sankyo in April 1977. He steadily advanced through the company, eventually becoming Chairman and CEO in 2008. Under his leadership, Sankyo has become one of the most successful pachinko machine companies in the world. In 2014, Kunio transferred his shares of publicly-traded Sankyo to Hideyuki.
Key Business Strategies
Busujima's tenure at Sankyo has been marked by a blend of respect for tradition and a keen eye for innovation. One of his strategic moves came in 2020 when he sold 20 million shares back to the company, which were then cancelled, aiming to consolidate the company's share structure. In April 2022, he stepped down as CEO but remained as chairman, reflecting his commitment to steering the company toward new horizons.
